Annabel Greene, as she appears in the Back to School commercial for the local department store, creates the illusion she is living the 'perfect' life. Like her model sisters, the reality of her life is so different from the illusion created for the public. How has jealousy and suspicion led to Annabel's new reputation as the novel opens? Has Annabel always been an outsider, or is this a new role for her? Owen tells only the truth, while Annabel rarely tells her true feelings. Which character suffers more as the result of their flaws? Why is Sophie so successful with her manipulation of others? Start finding the connections to the Othello themes.

Why doesn't Annabel just tell Sophie and everyone else that Sophie's boyfriend didn't just have sex with her, he raped her?

Annabel doesnt realized what she isnt saying is what is making things worse or herself. own doesnt but himself in situations where he questions on if he should tell the truth. because of Annabels trait it is so easy for Sophie to take control of her. Annabel need to stand up for herself.

Do you think that since Annabel and Owen are both "outsiders" that that's the only reason why Annabe gave him a chance as a friend?

Why does Annabel stay quit and not say anything about the situation wth Sophie's boyfriend? how can she just sit there and take all the rude comments & the lies?

I believe Annabel stays quiet because she thinks she doesn't have the strength to speak up for herself. She has been controlled that way by Sophie from the start, or so she thinks. But its typical for most rate victims to be insecure and not speak about their situation.
